Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (ICECS)

The Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS) are available to Indigenous students to assist with the high costs of undertaking higher education. While the CECS have been replaced by the Student Start-Up Scholarships (administered by Centrelink), they will continue to be offered to Indigenous students in their existing form.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must: be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Indigenous Australian citizens from low socio-economic backgrounds, particularly those from remote and regional areas; be enrolled full-time in any undergraduate degree program at USC (or part-time where there are exceptional circumstances preventing full-time enrolment); and have not previously completed an undergraduate program (except where it is an entry requirement for the current course). Eligible applicants are to provide evidence of financial need and other equity considerations and personal circumstances. Tenure is dependent on satisfactory progress.
