Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering)

Our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program involves preparing a thesis that makes a substantial, original contribution. The Faculty of Engineering focuses on research in key areas: complex systems, data science, energy, environment, food supply, healthcare, infrastructure, IoT, and robotics. This course is for students with a strong research background, holding either a bachelor's with first class honours, a research focused masters, or an equivalent qualification. PhD students can gain expertise in their field and pursue careers in academia, research, or industry leadership.

  • You must have completed the equivalent of one of the following in an area related to your proposed research:
  • bachelors degree with first class honours (or equivalent)
  • masters degree by research
  • masters degree by coursework with an independent research component such as a thesis, dissertation or research project with a minimum overall distinction average.
  • an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability.
