Cowan Regional Refugee Grant

The Cowan Regional Refugee Grant provides encouragement and support for undergraduate or UniSA College students from a refugee background and with a connection to regional South Australia.
Eligibility Requirements
The grant is available to students from a refugee background studying full-time or part-time at any year level of an undergraduate or UniSA College program. Applicants should be: • Attached to a UniSA regional campus (Whyalla or Mount Gambier) or other regional location operated by UniSA (e.g. Ceduna, Port Lincoln), or • attached to a UniSA city campus and residing in or have previously resided in a regional South Australian location immediately prior to attending UniSA The grant is valued at $5,000 and will assist recipients meet the costs associated with their living and/or education expenses. Eligibility and selection criteria: To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be: • A student with a refugee background. • Enrolled in a UniSA undergraduate or UniSA College program. • Attached to a regional campus/location, currently residing in a South Australian regional location, or previously resided in a regional South Australian location immediately prior to attending UniSA. • A full-time or part-time student. • Experiencing financial disadvantage. • Submit a written statement. Applicants will need to demonstrate financial hardship to apply for the grant. This can be done by providing evidence of current receipt of a Health Care Card and/or a means-tested Centrelink benefit(s) e.g. Abstudy, Austudy, Youth Allowance, etc. Applicants not in receipt of government means tested benefits can complete the UniSA Scholarship Income Assessment Form, to support their application The grant will be awarded based on the eligibility and selection criteria and content of the written statement.
