Graduate Diploma of Emotionally Focused Therapy

The aim of this course is to provide study in counselling and therapy using the Emotionally Focused approach. The Graduate Diploma in Emotionally Focused Therapy will provide practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of emotional experience and the means to work verbally and creatively. The central theme of this program is working with all aspects of emotional experience: the interpersonal reactions and the intrapersonal or self-experience. The program will focus on subjects that allow a practitioner to assess emotional patterns in the present, develop links to past experiences and patterns, examine childhood material, and work with the Adult-Inner Child relationship. In addition, the therapeutic relationship will be explored in order to develop therapeutic ways of 'being with' the client in a respectful, caring and real way while acknowledging and working with the symbolic aspects of the relationship.
