Structure

The course offers two streams - Performance and Contemporary Composition - each of which requires two semesters. The Performance Stream comprises a major study in an instrument or voice, accompanied by the development of postgraduate academic skills related to, and underpinning, performance. Students rehearse, organise and present performances which demonstrate independent creative thought; highly-developed interpretative capacities; and musical achievement. The Contemporary Composition Stream enables students to develop advanced compositional knowledge and skills, and to apply these to create complex, original, and innovative works in either 'classical' applications or in more commercial applications such as animation, advertising, radio, television and film.
