Delivered at the Carlton College of Sport campus at Ikon Park, home of the Carlton Football Club, the Diploma of Elite Sport Business gives you the business knowledge, hands-on experience and networking opportunity to succeed in this evolving industry. Students are immediately immersed in an elite sport environment, with a commitment from the Carlton Football Club to deliver students enrolled in the Diploma of Elite Sport Business the opportunity to complete 100 hours placement with the Club and its partners or networks. Graduates will develop job ready skills suited to entry level roles in sport administration. Further study options also exist, with graduates being eligible for advanced standing for eight subjects in La Trobe's Bachelor of Business degree. You'll learn: Sport management Discover the key to business leadership in the professional sport industry. Learn how to use strategy, organisational structures and human resource management to reach professional goals. Media and marketing in sport Learn how the pros do it. Examine the marketing of elite sporting organisations and develop the tools used to manage the relationship between sport and the media. Business data analysis Organisations have access to huge amounts of data. Discover how to apply statistical concepts and use this information for business solutions and decision making and its growing influence on sport. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 5.

  • Police Record Check: Applicants will be required to hold a valid National Police Record Check for professional placements as part of this course. Working with Children Check: Applicants will be required to hold a valid Working with Children (WWC) Check prior to undertaking professional placements as part of this course. First Aid / CPR Certificate: First Aid and/or CPR certification is required to meet the professional requirements of the diploma. Applicants with recent secondary education (within the last two years) - Prerequisite: VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL. Applicants with work and life experience, Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study, Applicants with higher education study - Prerequisite: Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites. Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) La Trobe will consider STAT Multiple Choice results for applicants where: the course has an English prerequisite equivalent to VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in English other than EAL, and/or Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in Further Mathematics, and, Higher Education studies do not meet the course prerequisites, or the course requirements through Work Recognition are not met, or Year 12 or equivalent has not been successfully completed. Work Recognition: Applicants seeking consideration via Work Recognition must complete all requirements listed on the La Trobe University Work Recognition webpage and submit a Personal Statement, including relevant work experience and reasons for applying for this course.
