Last week it was Western Australia’s turn but this Labour Day weekend, it will be the residents of Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory who will be enjoying Monday off work. Tasmania

A day on the Green, Josef Chromy Wines, Launceston

Get along to the Tasmanian leg of iconic Australian music festival A Day on the Greenon Saturday 10 March. Hosted at Josef Chromy Wines, Launceston, the event is fully licensed and headlined by The Living End, Spiderbait and Veruca Salt. Tickets are on sale from $149.90.

South Australia

UBET Adelaide Cup, Morphetville Racecourse, Adelaide

The biggest day on the South Australian racing calendar is arguably the UBET Adelaide Cup, which is how thousands of people spend Labour Day. Go all out with a sit-down luncheon or simply pay $25 for entry and enjoy the vast array of food, bars, entertainment and live racing.

Australian Capital Territory

Illuminations – Lighting up the Capital, Parliamentary Triangle, Canberra 

Several of Canberra’s most iconic buildings will be lit up during Illuminations – Lighting up the Capital until Sunday 11 March. Various artists and live bands will play against of a backdrop of thought provoking projections showcased on Australian Parliament House, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Library of Australia.

Victoria

Donut Fest on the Green, Gasworks Arts Park, Melbourne

From 11am to 7pm on Saturday 10 March, Donut Fest on the Green will take over the Gasworks Arts Park in Albert Park. Entry is a gold coin donation to Foodbank Victoria, which allows you to take your pick from more than 30 sweet and savoury options. You can even purchase an exclusive beer designed to match donuts!
